Eric Sobotka, MAI

Prior to forming Gravitas Valuation, Eric was an appraiser/analyst with Integra Realty Resources- Sacramento (IRR), The Fillmore Group (now IRR – San Francisco) and Pacific Appraisers. He also held several development and acquisition roles with a number of regional developers where he was involved in the acquisition, entitlement, and/or development of over $500M in multifamily, self storage, retail properties. Eric received his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of California Davis and is a licensed Real Estate Broker in CA & MI, and a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in MD, DC, VA, IA, CA, CO, NC & MI.

Boris Maslow

Boris is a Certified Residential Appraiser based in the Baltimore area with over 18 years of experience. He brings a broad background working with both lenders and private clients, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the factors that influence property values in the local market. In addition to his appraisal work, Boris has renovated multiple single-family homes, providing him with in-depth knowledge of construction costs and the renovation process.

Mark Montag

Mark is a Certified General Appraiser with over 30 years experience working primarily in the fuel distribution sector. His appraisal experience spans a variety of commercial assets, including bulk oil terminals, propane companies, fueling stations, convenience stores, and service sites. Prior to entering the appraisal field, Mark spent eleven years in the financial services industry, serving as Vice President at two suburban institutions and overseeing the valuation and sale of bank-owned properties in five states. Mark holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree from the College of St. Thomas.

Gordon Bergthold

Gordon is a Certified General Appraiser in California with over 55 years appraising commercial and agriculture properties throughout the United States. He is a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) and has extensive experience as an expert witness. He also specializes in water rights and arbitration/mitigation.

MAI Designation

All Appraisal Institute members holding the MAI designation are required to:

  • Complete rigorous education requirements, submit extensive specialized appraisal experience, demonstrate appraisal experience, demonstrate appraisal report writing abilities, and potentially pass a comprehensive examination. All requirements to obtain the MAI or SRPA designations are significantly above state and federal requirements.
  • Conduct his or her professional activities in accordance with the Appraisal Institute’s Code of Professional Ethics and are subject to a peer review process, which enforces the Code of Professional Ethics.
  • Adhere to strict continuing education requirements to ensure they are up-to-date with the evolving real estate field.
