Eric Sobotka, MAI

Prior to founding Gravitas Valuation, Eric served as an appraiser and analyst with Integra Realty Resources in Sacramento, The Fillmore Group (now Integra Realty Resources – San Francisco), and Pacific Appraisers. He also held development and acquisition roles with regional developers, where he was involved in the acquisition, entitlement, and development of multifamily, self-storage, and retail properties with an aggregate value of more than $500 million. Eric earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of California, Davis. He is an MAI Designated Commercial Real Estate Appraiser, a licensed real estate broker in California and Michigan, and a Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in California, Maryland, Michigan and Virginia. 

Brian Beaty, MAI

Advisor

Brian P. Beaty is an MAI Designated Commercial Real Estate Appraiser and financial analyst with more than 25 years of valuation experience across most major property types in multiple U.S. markets and abroad. He has appraised vacant land, retail centers, traditional and medical office properties (including hospitals), creative office space, industrial and warehouse facilities, hotels, restaurants, and both multifamily and single-family residential uses in 26 states and three foreign countries. Brian also has extensive experience with nontraditional assignments, including marinas, wineries and vineyards, a prison, cannabis facilities, telecommunication towers, conservation easements, and full and partial takings for eminent domain. He has been designated as an expert in multiple courts and has prepared appraisals for tax appeals, bankruptcy, estate planning, partnership disputes, marital dissolution, and insurance claims. Brian holds a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Notre Dame and is a Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI).

Mark Montag

Advisor

Mark R. Montag is a Certified General Appraiser and real estate broker with over 30 years of experience, with a primary focus on the fuel distribution and petroleum sectors. His appraisal and brokerage work spans petroleum distribution businesses and related commercial assets across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and South Dakota, including bulk oil jobbers, propane companies, fueling stations, convenience stores, truck stops, automated fueling sites, and service stations. Earlier in his career, Mark spent eleven years in the financial services industry with regional and local institutions, serving as Vice President at two suburban banks and overseeing the valuation and sale of bank-owned properties in five states, ranging from rural residential assets to metropolitan office buildings. His background also includes responsibility for investment portfolios, borrowings, and the development of computer-generated cash flow models for the valuation of operating companies and real estate. Mark holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, and he maintains Certified General Appraiser and real estate broker licenses in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. 

Kenny Ebinger

Advisor

Kenny Allen Ebinger is a Certified General Appraiser with 20 years of valuation and review experience spanning commercial appraisal, residential production, and national AMC quality control leadership. He began his career in residential appraisal before transitioning into commercial work, where he supported a senior MAI appraiser on complex industrial, multifamily, and office assignments, conducting market research, comparable verification, and assisting in the preparation of narrative reports. Kenny later moved into valuation management within an AMC environment, leading a quality control team that reviewed high volumes of appraisals for compliance with USPAP, GSE, FHA, and lender-specific requirements, while managing dispute resolution and strengthening appraisal review practices. He also served as a residential staff appraiser with March Valuations and operated his own firm, On Site Valuations, managing the full appraisal lifecycle from client communication and inspection through analysis and final report delivery. His background combines hands-on valuation, team leadership, and disciplined process management, with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, defensible reporting, and effective remote work.

Boris Maslow

Advisor

Boris is a Certified Residential Appraiser based in the Baltimore area with over 18 years of experience. He brings a broad background working with both lenders and private clients, giving him a well-rounded understanding of the factors that influence property values in the local market. In addition to his appraisal work, Boris has renovated multiple single-family homes, providing him with in-depth knowledge of construction costs and the renovation process.

Gordon Bergthold

Advisor

Gordon is a Certified General Appraiser in California with over 55 years appraising commercial and agriculture properties throughout the United States. He is a member of the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers (ASFMRA) and has extensive experience as an expert witness. He also specializes in water rights and arbitration/mitigation.
